Research project creates great job opportunities
The Uganda National Association of the Blind, UNAB, is in charge of identifying partially and blind persons who can interview other persons with disabilities for the ADD International research project. I assumed the task, identified Harriet and I also convinced ADD to accept her although she was a bit older than they had set as age limit. Last week they accepted her for training. She will move around with her daughter as assistant.
“I am so happy! Thank you for thinking about me. My daughter will be my guide, and the little money we will make will be for the growth and development of our family”, Harriet Nalule says.
Harriet lost her sight when she had just finished her studies in nursery teaching and she was married with three children. Her husband could not bear with the blindness of his wife and left both her and the children. The construction of their house also came to a standstill, as the husband could not support it financially. Harriet started poultry keeping and with some support from other family members, she finished the construction of the house and manages to take care of her children.
Now she can expand her CV by some more important work.
