Call for applications for Advocacy Grants – Global Disability Summit 2022

25 Aug 2021
In February 2022 the Norwegian Government will host the Global Disability Summit (GDS). This digital top-level meeting is a unique opportunity for civil society to engage in human rights advocacy on country level. At the GDS, countries are reminded of the rights of the world’s largest minority, efforts, achievements and lessons are discussed, and plans for future development cooperation and humanitarian action are collectively made. Time's now to place Disability Rights in the limelight.

The Atlas Alliance encourages civil society to use this opportunity to hold their governments accountable to the obligations they have towards persons with disabilities, and welcomes organisations to apply for its Advocacy Grants programme.

 Objective of the Advocacy Grants

The overall objective of the advocacy grants is to support civil society’s efforts to achieve political change in their respective countries. The grants are meant to fund advocacy work, through any effective channel dependent on the country context. This could mean social media campaigns, campaigning through other far-reaching mechanisms, dialogue / consultations, or other innovative approaches. The campaigns / advocacy efforts should promote disability inclusion and Human Rights on country level, according to the Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRDP).

Conditions

The grants available for each country context range from 1-400.000 NOK. One Norwegian organisation (holding a NORAD / NMFA agreement) may apply on behalf of several partners in the same and / or different country contexts in the Global South – including the countries involved in the Together For Inclusion consortium. The ceiling for funds one organisation can receive is NOK 1 million. Grants given under this scheme can be spent until the end of April 2022.
